Interfaces to other systems

DocScape does not require additional data management but integrates seamlessly into the system of your choice. We supply a wide range of standardized interfaces which support a seamless exchange of data.

  ds-systematik

They include:

  • ERP-Systems (SSA-ERP [Baan], SAP, Navision)
  • Relational databases (z.B. Oracle, MS SQL Server, DB2, Postgres, MySQL, Informix, Sybase)
  • Media Asset Management Systems and Image databases (Pixelboxx, Cumulus)
  • PIM-Systems (pirobase PIM, ASIM, MyView, itemis DM4)
  • Content Management Systems (IMPERIA, Pironet, OpenCms)
  • Standard data (BMECat, TecDoc)
  • Free defined relational or structured datatypes (CSV, XML, RDF)
  • External documents (RTF, XLS, HTML, RDI [SAP Print])
  • DTP-Software (InDesign)
  • Manually generated pages or sections (PDF)
  • Filesystems
An outstanding feature is the fact that DocScape does not generate redundant data copies but operates on real data (with freely definable filters), ensuring at all times the topicality of the data used.

Flexible data processing through a consistent XML process

  • Consistent application of XML at every stage, for data management purposes as well as for the definition of data structures, rules and interfaces.
  • Data are extracted from databases, ERP etc. in XML format.
  • Benefit: Unicode code, formula-based data conversion and reduction, easy combination of different data sources.
  • 100% automatic, formula-based conversion of third-party formats (CSV, XLS, RTF, RDI) into XML for a seamless integration into the data stream.
  • DocEdit: Browser-based editor for structured XML text data. A familiar text editor environment is displayed, in which text contents, accentuations, classification structures, lists and tables may be edited according to the WYSIWYG principle. The result, however, will be a standardized XML format, and the admissible text structures can be controlled flexibly via the XML formula. This way, a customized editor environment is provided for each text content, automatically excluding unauthorized formats. The processing procedure through the printing system is controlled by design rules; texts can be printed in a wide range of different formats.

Documents on demand

If required, DocScape is capable of accessing data just before generating a document without delaying the overall process.

This way, a “fresh” document is generated from up-to-date data and image material at the push of a button, either as a clearing copy generated from currently processed data, the final printed version from data which have already been passed for release, or, if generated from the Internet, an individually composed document as the result of e.g. a search request.

Problems in re-formatting previous document versions due to modified data are non-existent, because each document is generated individually under full application of all corporate design rules to each selected dataset.

Main catalogs, trade fair catalogs, novelty catalogs, clearance sale lists, discontinuation catalogs, language or price variants - it’s all a question selecting the relevant data.

DocScape’s data and document generation processes are so efficient that each document can be redesigned in full compliance with all defined design rules without long waiting periods. Depending on the complexity of a document, 50 - 100 pages per minute can be generated for pre-press, so even complex documents may be produced at the push of a button. If taken from the Internet, a personalized document for download or dispatch by e-mail can be generated on the fly in a few seconds.
